Sand is the most vital material on any construction site, as it will determine the durability of the building. That is why, in modern days, there are those village houses made of mud without the use of many trees like in the older days. The house will only consume four larger posts in the corners, and the mud will be inserted by using timber. In fact, in the traditional houses, which would use more trees, a lot of mud would still be made and inserted for the house to be strong and durable over a long time. That is why the traditional houses are still standing because of the mud, not trees or nails.

This goes hand in hand with the construction sites investing in real estate, as the type of sand used at every stage must be of different sizes. The reason is that the size of the sand used from the beginning is not going to be the same size that is going to be used on plastering. The fine sand is used in plastering to achieve a smoother and harder surface after it has dried. Neither large nor medium-sized sand can be used in the finishing, as the surface is going to be rough when dry and cause some cracks. As a result, the building is going to fall after some time.

This is something that must be considered as to why most of these handymen and the fundis are going to use either fine, medium, or coarser sand at any stage, unknowingly, which becomes problematic in the future. This weakens the building's durability. The reason why most buildings fall or form either smaller or larger cracks is because of the poor procedure used in the mixing of sand at every stage. For example, coarse and medium sand can not be used in plastering to gain a smooth surface, and neither can fine sand be used in mixing with concrete and mortars, as this will form cracks in the building, and later on, the building will go down.

Therefore, those fundis and handymen who have never attended any class of civil engineering but are working at the construction sites should be informed on the importance of using the correct type and size of sand at every stage of construction to avoid future problems for the real estate's investors and for the safety of renters. The government, through the use of expertise in the construction field, should create awareness of the importance of following the right procedure during the construction of the building for the avoidance of future problems that might be detrimental to the investor or the renter.
