Virtual Seat: Teddy Obiero - A Love for People and the Environment
Perhaps you are wondering, who is Teddy Obiero? And why should we care? Mr. Obiero is not your average businessman. He is a businessman who cares for the community and its citizens. In part one of this interview, we dive into who he is and a little about what he does.
Teddy Obiero is the founding chairman of The Alliance of Nairobi Metro Residents Association (ANMRA) and also the chairman of Nyayo Embakasi Residents Association (NERA)
Teddy Obiero has lived with a disability since he was a young boy and fully empathizes with others who struggle daily in accessing buildings including their own homes.
He is actively advocating for the review of the city by-laws on building approval to make it compulsory for developers to factor in access by people with disabilities, something that is a huge oversight in Kenya.

His advocacy in Embakasi has seen various roads repaired, better sewer & sanitation infrastructure, fresh water supply, expanded fiber optics connectivity, and better working relationship between the county licensing office and various businesses among many other achievements.

He is also passionate about the environment, having partnered with Equity Bank and successfully planted over 22,,000 trees In Nyayo, Baraka, Fedha, Tassia, Simba, and Jua Kali estates, as well as Embakasi Primary School, Embakasi Police station, and Embakasi sub-county offices.
He is also credited with adopting a circular economy in Nyayo Estate and the wider Embakasi ward. To date over 15,000 kilos of plastics have been collected and recycled.
Professionally, Mr. Obiero runs QUEST TL LIMITED an ICT company that provides security and network solutions; from CCTV network design & installation, biometric access control systems, automatic door locks, app/web-based security systems, structured secure networks, and web hosting services. The company recently ventured into green energy where they have successfully designed and installed over 192 solar power solutions.
