The Tallest Skyscraper that Lights Up Nairobi

The Britam Tower is the tallest building in Kenya and also in Eastern and Central Africa and is designed to international standards.

It is located along Hospital Hill road in the Upperhill neighborhood of Nairobi. It is 133 meters high with a spire of 67 meters at the top of the building bringing to a total height of 200 meters making it the tallest building in Kenya and 3rd tallest in Africa. It has an area of 31,500 square meters and is 31 stories high. It has an adjacent 11 story parking together with a three-basement parking level that can accommodate over 1000 cars. Its construction started in 2013 and was completed in September of 2017. 

It offers an exceptional view of Nairobi and its environs. You can see the Nairobi National Park and on a clear day, you can see Mt. Kenya and Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The elevators go at speeds of up to 6m/s and 4m/s to enhance accessibility.

It received the award for the tallest skyscraper in Africa in the Global Architecture Awards announced in Germany. It also received the Emporis Skyscraper Award becoming the only skyscraper in Africa to feature among the top 10 buildings, in the award 19-year history in the year 2017 where it was 10th place. 

It is the international headquarters of British American Investment  Company (Britam) and is owned by the Britam holdings.
