A real estate broker is a person who helps people to buy, lease and sell properties. They can also be helping when you need the negotiation of the final contract and guide their clients through every step of the real estate transaction including inspection and repairs that need to be completed before a sale. Here are types of brokers;

Associate brokers. These are brokers that work under another broker. They not allowed to supervise another agent.
Managing brokers. These are brokers that are responsible for overseeing the transaction and daily operation in the office. They hire agents and manage administrative staff.
Principal brokers supervise real estate agents to make sure they are in compliance with state and national real estate laws.

Real estate brokers are paid through commission. They earn money by taking a share of the commission earned by their real estate agents who work under them. Also,  they earn by getting commission from their own deal.

Some of the duties of a real estate broker include; creating property listings, advertising available properties, scheduling the opening of houses and showings, taking photographs of properties and helping clients to determine their property needs and budget.

In order to become a real estate broker, one has to enroll in a state-approved real estate sales course
A broker needs to be trained on real estate legal issues, finance, insurance, taxes and ethics of real estate. You need to make sure the course is approved by the state licensing bound to qualify for your license. One has to pass the state real estate agent licensing exam that covers subjects like closing a deal, negotiation, real estate law and working with clients.

Before working as a broker you need first to work as an agent for a particular period to gain experience on matters concerning real estate and get a real estate certificate which helps to build your reputation.

After getting experience as a real estate agent, you will need to enroll in a real estate broker course. This course focuses on more details on how to do contracts, ethics, insurance and taxes than the real estate agent course. You need to pass the exam to be able to get a broker license.
