Ecosystems makes life possible by providing basic fundamentals such as bacteria decomposition of waste products, soil erosion prevention by tree roots, clean air from plants and water filtration even though water quality is often the one misinterpreted as a final ecosystem service.

Water is an important factor in the ecosystem and the need to preserve water through waste water management is still a gap that Kenya as a country needs to bridge.

Why is water important in an ecosystem?

Clean freshwater is necessary for drinking and sanitation, but water itself is vital for life, with its main functions as plant growth, species permanent dwellings and balancing of the ecosystems.

It’s the nature’s most important nutrient and people need water to survive from transportation of oxygen, minerals, nutrients and waste water products to and from the cells, digestion of food and lubrication of mucus layers in the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts.

For the environment, water restores the natural flow regime in wetlands and creeks rivers with also the maintenance of a healthy and productive river resilient system.

Waste water treatment

A more cheap way of operating a waste water treatment is the immobilization of pollution and the removal of pollutants from wetlands, rivers, streams, and lakes.

The restoration of the wetland ecosystems would have a positive effect on water purification and automatically increase the countries capability to achieve a clean water and improved sanitation goal.

It is the process of removing contaminants in waste water, turning it into effluent, and returning it back into the water cycle.

Waste water is varied; domestic waste water has its own form of treatment carried out in a sewage treatment plant. Agricultural waste water has a leachate treatment plant.

The ecosystem is long linked to the civilization and sustainability of economies. We are part of the ecosystem so preserving it means preserving our home.

The word "ecosystem" is a short form for an ecological system. The earth as a planet is made of a million individual ecosystems. Food, clean air, and fresh water are all merits of a well-preserved ecosystem.

Outdoor recreation activities and perfect ambience for soul rejuvenation this are just but some of the ecosystem services that to one point or another becomes the dreams of humankind.

There are many other functions that are carried out by the ecosystem that forms part of the ecosystem service. With this, both scientists, economists, and ecologists combine expertise and map same time asses the social, natural, and economic values of ecosystem services.
