Kenyans were treated to a 5-day holiday from 29th April to 3rd May following the death of the country's third president, the late Mwai Kibaki. President Uhuru Kenyatta had announced the 29th of April as a national holiday as it was the day the late president was accorded a state funeral. Then came Kenya's labor day holiday of 1st May and then the Eid ul fitr holiday.

During that period, my mum saw an opportunity to overwork me by decluttering the house. I stumbled on an old photo of her and my dad on a date at Sirikwa hotel back in the day.

The garden seemed well maintained as it is to date. She told me this was their favorite place and they always saved up to ensure they visited the place.
