Gone are the days when women were only involved in domestic activities at home. Recently,  a lot of women have taken a chance in areas that were always considered male-dominated, like investing in real estate

Women empowerment from women groups and "chamas" has played a vital role in building the capacity of women by offering them financial independence, hence motivating them to venture into the real estate industry. Additionally, the government and various organizations have implemented policies and initiatives to promote gender equality and encourage women's participation in all sectors, including real estate.

Mentorship and apprenticeship are other factors that have fueled women's involvement in real estate because women can learn and acquire skills and knowledge from other women, which are required to navigate the real estate market successfully.

Feminism is also another factor that has accelerated the involvement of women in real estate.

According to Avneesh Sood, the director of the EROS group, feminist principles have the potential to make a significant impact on the real estate industry by promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion. The feminist principle has also helped increase women's involvement in real estate by promoting cultural sensitivity and awareness by challenging some traditions and cultures that were always against women's involvement in real estate since the sector has always been considered to be male-dominated.

Women in Kenya are not only becoming homeowners but also actively participating in real estate development, investment, and management. They are acquiring properties, developing housing projects, and investing in commercial real estate ventures. This increased involvement is not only beneficial for women individually but also contributes to the overall growth and development of the real estate industry in the country.

Furthermore, women's involvement in the real estate industry has brought about positive changes in the sector. Women tend to bring a unique perspective and approach to real estate transactions, emphasizing factors such as affordability, sustainability, and community development. Their presence has led to the creation of more inclusive and diverse real estate projects that cater to the needs of different segments of society.

As stated by the National Association of Realtors, 65% of the realtors are women; they are mostly attracted to real estate due to its flexibility. Women can be able to focus on their real estate careers and still take care of their families without difficulty.

In conclusion, women's involvement in the real estate industry in Kenya is on the rise, driven by a supportive environment and the recognition of women's rights. Their contributions are shaping the industry and bringing about positive changes. With continued efforts to address challenges and promote gender equality, the future looks promising for women in the Kenyan real estate sector.
