Green housing is a kind of building that champions environmental protection. As well as water and energy savings and the general well-being and health of the residents and occupants in a specified area. This has been a result of continuous environmental pollution and climate change, which are unsafe and hazardous to the occupants. Henceforth, much attention is being drawn to green housing across the globe. Therefore, green housing is vital when sustainable and environmental practices are incorporated to enhance affordable housing developments, as follows:.

Green buildings aim to reduce environmental pollution due to the use of green energy in operating tasks during the construction of green buildings. The use of renewable energy sources instead of generators, which are going to emit smoke gases into the atmosphere, is detrimental to the environment. Because solar energy will be used for operation rather than more expensive generator fuel, this will also reduce operating expenses. Therefore, the use of renewable energy sources promotes, enhances, and protects biodiversity and ecosystems, thus helping to mitigate the effects of climate change.

Reducing environmental pollution by using non-toxic materials and improving indoor air quality improves the quality of water for domestic use and clean air. Hence, improving the overall quality of life of the occupants is due to their good health. When this happens, there will be more occupants, leading to an increase in asset value and profits.

Climate change and environmental degradation are becoming of much concern globally, creating attention for most individuals and organizations to adopt sustainable practices. The practices are going to be achieved when there is the use of environmentally friendly materials that have low environmental impact and are non-toxic. Other practices include the use of renewable energy sources that reduce carbon emissions, the use of reusable materials, and many other environmentally friendly practices.

The government, in conjunction with its expertise in green building, has the mandate to raise thorough awareness among individuals, organizations, and engineers about the importance of incorporating green building practices into the environment. More so, workshops have to be carried out, especially with those having a passion for the construction sector, for them to be responsible in making decisions and choices for the betterment of every individual. This is only going to happen if the most significant steps are taken in adopting green building practices.
