5 Initial Signs You Hired A Wrong Real Estate Agent | Realtor Red Flags
Unfamiliarity with the market, speaking of commission breath, interested in lining their own pockets, dishonesty. These are things you're most likely to hear when you ask anyone to describe a bad real estate agent. Unfortunately, what they do not tell you is that there's way more than that. fYou may be shocked at how many are happening under your nose while you're missing it.
1.Lack of communication
'Communication is everything'
An outstanding real estate agent will always be in constant communication with you: Follow up calls, Keeping you up-to-date with the market , providing information that adds value to you in your area and even build trust and care by assisting you in preparing for your sale, both emotionally and practically. However,an average real estate agent will pressure you to when you're selling or buying, struggle to explain the entire sales and legal process, communicate little feedback leaving you uninformed and frustrated.
The communication you receive from an agent before employing them will determine the communication you receive during the sale of your home.
2.Shaky negotiations
If an agent is unable to finalise a deal after long weeks or even months of searching, you need to figure out if there's a valid reason behind the delay or if he simply isn't doing it right. Dropping a ball during negotiations maybe? Professional agents try their best to make sure you get most out of the deal, not end up paying too much or accept too little.Real estate agents are expert negotiators. So, if yours isn't,it is surely time to look for a new one!
3.Late or zero turn up for appointments
Selling or buying a house involves a string of scheduled events.
Showings,open houses, inspections,appraisals...
The list is endless. This means a lot of commitment and missing just one of these can derail the progress toward a sale.
If your agent is constantly late or misses any of your appointments, that's a surefire sign. It's time to move on!
4.Real Estate is my side gig
"A part-time agent will lack the time, experience and patience to provide the full service that clients deserve,"Campbell ,a real estate professional, advises.
Agents who dip their toes in real estate waters while juggling other jobs or responsibilities are people you should run away from fast in an instant. As a seller or buyer, working with an agent who is spread too thin can lead to disappointment and frustration. Therefore, this statement should be a sign to pack up and leave.
5.Incomplete transparency
Never stay with a real estate agent who does not offer you complete transparency because it becomes an unending cycle. Remember, 'Once a liar, always a liar!'
Whether it's your inkling that something peculiar's cooking or you've seen one or two signs,I repeat, never!
It may be too late to do something about your agent paying other agents commission, taking cash for listings, hiding listing or doing underhanded things after signing the contract but it's never too late to fire him and look for a new one.
If your realtor is showing you the above signs, maybe it's time to kick him to the curb.
