Security’s importance in any business or organization cannot be swept under the carpet. In the modern era, security threats and breaches have gone a notch higher. Stadia safety is a great priority of the stadia management body. This is because fans flock to the stadiums in droves to enjoy their favorite teams locking horns.

In the recent past, the stadia security situation has been tested and loopholes have caused irreparable damage. In as much as stadia bring profit to the football organization or clubs, one lapse in security and a lot worse damage can affect football fans drastically.

Today being the International Day for Disaster Reduction, stadia security can be improved in the following ways:

1. Dynamic Security Personal Training:

The security personnel in the stadia should be trained thoroughly in dealing with security situations. Professional security training should be in line with modern security challenges. Additionally, in all areas of the stadium training should be harnessed to combat any security challenge efficiently and without delay.

The entrance screeners to the stadia should be handled by the right security personnel who won’t condone any security lapse or breach even when stadium invasion by fans is at high risk.

2. Advanced Security Equipment:

Modern security challenges are averted by modern security equipment. With the right disposal of technology to improve security apparatus, safety in the stadia will be well enhanced. Body scanners should be well stationed at all entry points of the stadium.

In the same vein, high-tech surveillance systems and equipment should be well-fitted by professional security officials. In the football club’s offices, gym, hotel, spa, training ground, the indoor arena of the pitch, and parking lot for the fans, security patrol should be enhanced and improved from time to time. More so, the Government together with the Ministry of Sports should ensure adequate funding for the purchase of the latest security equipment.

3. Zoned Operations:

Zoned operation in security analysis and improvement is worth it, especially in big stadia where security is a big office/establishment in itself. It is important to mention that the zoned security strategy cuts across the stadium where fans sit, in the stadium’s parking lot, the stadium’s café, the club’s hotel, and spa, all entry, and exit points to the stadium, and the football club’s museum.

Furthermore, in zoned operations, all security protocols are adhered to strictly. In the stadia, the security command center is structured to ensure effective communication between all security organs and the perfect coordination of movement impacting crowd control.

4. Crowd Control:

In the recent past, poor crowd control has led to stampedes in stadiums resulting in death and severe injuries to fans.

Crowd control can be improved in the following ways: a good number of professional match stewards to control charged crowds during the chaos, evacuation of the crowd to safety shelters where those injured can be attended to promptly, a clear and well-structured command center to ensure clear communication during pitch invasions, inter policing with other policing organs and alternative security protocol to deal with all sorts of security threats.

Football clubs have introduced a policy where fans who invade the pitch are offered temporary or permanent bans to the stadiums. This in the long run has made crowd control a collective responsibility.

5. Security Manager:

A security manager coordinates communication in and outside the stadium. In addition, the security manager guarantees that the visiting football teams have their security detail and arrangement well structured.

The security manager ensures that the general security of the stadia is improved from time to time. Additionally, the security manager ensures that the command center for clear security communications and operations is up and running. Finally, the security manager provides means and ways of neutralizing security threats.

Indeed security begins with me and you. Any business and real estate venture that does not take great security measures into account is bound to live with the expensive reality of security lapses that wreak havoc left, right, and center.

The structure of the stadia should be operated and constructed in a way that crucial security measures are taken into account and any security breach is dealt with severely. In doing this, the stadium experience will be worth remembering for all the good reasons.
