Floor design with tiles makes the rooms of a home or an office elegant. The myriad choice of tiles in flooring your home makes this task more daunting and interesting.

In consideration of the tiles to purchase, the homeowner considers how it complements the interior design of a home, its affordability, and the ease of its maintenance. One can make their floors sparkling clean and well maintained in the following ways:

1. Use Doormats

Doormats at the entrance and exits points of the home especially doors ensure the dirt trapped in shoes and sandals does not remain on the tile. In homes or apartments where the tiling has been done in the bathroom, use a bath mat to ensure at all times the tile is dry. If this is not done, serious accidents such as slipping on the floor can occur and cause serious injury to the residents of the apartment.

2. Clean up Spills Immediately

Absorbent cloth and disinfectant should be used to clean the tiles to avoid the buildup of “strong” stains on the tiles. Dirt such as egg spills and raw meat should be aggressively wiped out to prevent the bacteria from settling into the tiles “permanently”.

3. Vacuum and Dust

A fluffy dust mop removes dust and dirt from the tile before it sits firmly on the floor. Cleaning the tiles via the fluffy dust mop is easy and efficient. It is important to mention that a straw broom is not a great idea for the cleaning the tiles as they will scratch the floor.

4. Mop it up

Contrary to the popular opinion that the floor is to be mopped every day, with warm water and mild soap, the floor should be cleaned twice a week. If you clean the floor with too much detergent, the buildup of dirt will make the floor look dirtier.

After use of the detergent in cleaning the floor, usage of pure/clean water is strongly recommended in “dry mopping” the floor. Dry the floor very well so as to avoid accidents. Additionally, this will ensure the dirt does not settle into the wet tiles that have just been washed.

6. Additional Rugs in the House

These rugs will ensure the living room does not have a buildup of dust as the living room is the area where family members and even guests meet. Furthermore, in having more rugs in the house, the tiles will be sparkling clean most of the time and will only be washed when necessary.

7. Washing the Tile Effectively

In instances where the tile has dirt that has stained the floor and has stuck in the edges of the flooring system, wash the tiles effectively and efficiently. In other words, give the floor a “deep clean”. In the same vein, this would mean washing the floor more than once a week. Fresh water and dish detergent will aid in removing hard grease from the tiles.

8. Renovation

It is common knowledge that after a while the tiles will have some wear and tear. Renovation of the tiles that are broken is important considering that tiles are part and parcel of the home’s interior design. The homeowner can also “play around” with different tiles designs and choices to make the living room appealing and attractive.

More so, the renovation will give the rooms a “new touch of excellence” in houses where the design of the tiles is “too common”. Renovation of the flooring system ensures the tiles are well maintained in a creative way while its design is captivating.

Although the purchase of the tiles can be expensive, in adherence to these measures the floor will have a “long life span”.
